At least for me, music is one of the greatest gifts God has given us.

Welcome to Val on Vinyl, an independent music blog dedicated to spotlighting alternative music, alongside international music spanning Arabic, French, and Spanish artists. Alongside bi-weekly blogs, you'll find in-depth album reviews, lyric walls, and curated playlists.

Post-Grad Passion Project

Music has always been foundational to my everyday life. It has a way of meeting you exactly where you are, whether that's altering your mood, pulling you back into a memory, or making sense of a moment you didn't quite have words for yet.

I graduated from NC State University in May 2026, and music carried me through more of that journey than I can count. From the late-night study sessions before exams to the overnight shifts I pulled as a Resident Advisor, certain albums always seemed to fit the season, like they were made for that exact chapter of life.

It's one of my favorite things when I recommend a song or artist that's outside of someone's usual taste, and they end up loving it and wanting more of that genre. I think it's really beautiful to learn about a culture or language other than your own through music.

I love sharing music that speaks to the authenticity of the human experience, and helping others find their next favorite artist along the way. I hope that is what Val on Vinyl provides for you too.

Thank you for reading and listening. 💌
